What do you mean by exclusive hire of the venue?

When you hire Le Petit Moulin for your Wedding, you are hiring the entire venue for your own use and aside from the owners, the Wedding planner and suppliers, no other people are permitted on site throughout your stay.

How many people can you cater for?

We can comfortably cater for up to 100-120 people in our marquee.

Is there plenty of accommodation nearby for our overspill?

Currently we can sleep up to 20 people onsite (6 double rooms, 3 twin rooms plus 2 additonal z-beds). There is also plenty of local accommodation for your overspill, and some places are within a short walking distance or alternatively these can be housed in the nearby beautiful town of Saintes where there are plenty of great places for your guests to stay.

If you prefer to have all of your overspill family/guests staying at the same place then we are happy to help organize this for you and can even organize transfers to and from the venue by minibus or coach.

What is the weather like in April, May or September & October?

We are in a microclimate in this particular region of France as we have a very low rainfall record and long sunny days are the norm. In April, May, September and October temperatures are generally in the late teens or even early 20’s.

Are we able to bring our own alcohol on site?

At Le Petit Moulin we do not impose any alcohol restrictions and there is no corkage fee so you are welcome to supply your own champagne, wines, beers, soft drinks, etc…and our caterer will be happy to serve these during your event but may make a small charge for glasses and service. Alternatively, if you need assistance with supplies and provision of alcohol, we will be happy to assist as we work with many professional vintners.

What is the maximum number of guests we can have for the Wedding Breakfast at Le Petit Moulin?

We can fit 120 persons in the Marquee for a sit down meal on round tables. A few rectangular tables are also available which can be used as top tables

If we don’t want to eat in the marquee can we eat outside?

Yes of course, the marquee will still be available to use should there be inclement weather but you are more than welcome to eat outside should you wish.

Can we decorate the marquee?

Yes, however we do not allow open flame candles for obvious reasons.

Can we have a long top table in the Marquee ?

Yes, You can have a long top table.

Can we decorate/fold our own napkins?

We supply napkins and yes, you can as long as we know in advance so that we can ensure they are ready for you to collect and decorate the day before your wedding.

Do I have to lay the name cards etc. out on the morning of our wedding or can you do that for us?

We can lay the table with your name places, favours, menus etc. as long as they are given to us in table order. We will lay these out for you on the morning of your wedding.

Must we use your preferred wedding suppliers?

We request that you choose only from our list of caterers as they are familiar with our kitchen facilities and grounds plus they have a proven history of catering at Le Petit Moulin, are reputable and we trust them to deliver you a great service.

What if we don’t like the menu choices you offer?

Whilst we will provide you with sample menus, if there is any special dietary requirements or particular type of food you would like served at your Wedding we will work with you and the Chef to tailor a menu specifically for your special day.

What age do you classify a child (for catering purposes) ?

Anyone aged 10 and under is classified as a child.

How will we be reassured by the services you offer?

Recommendations are everything and we have some fantastic testimonials for you to read and at Le Petit Moilin we pride ourselves on the level of service we offer. We have won several awards of excellence as well.

We started the Wedding business in 2011 and have a very experienced Wedding planner working with us who will work closely with you to ensure your Wedding is perfect and as owners of the business, we also pride ourselves in making each Wedding simply perfect.

What time does the evening have to finish on the Wedding Day?

Out of consideration for local residents and neighbours, all wedding parties must finish by 2 am but we request that the music be turned down to an acceptable level by 12 midnight.

Can we throw confetti?

Yes, however we would request that you use only bio-degradable confetti and rice is no problem as the birds will eat that.

Can we have table crystals?

We don’t allow table crystals as these can sometimes fall onto the floor and cause accidents by getting underneath high heels. They also scratch the wooden floors.

Can we have helium balloons?

Yes, as long as you remove them once you have finished.

Can we launch Chinese lanterns?

Unfortunately we don’t allow Chinese lanterns to be launched as the debris impacts on our local residents and farmland.

Is smoking permitted ?

We have a general No Smoking policy at Le Petit Moulin and for the comfort and safety of all our guests, smoking is not permitted within any rooms of the main house or the swimming pool area but you may smoke in any other of the outdoor areas, however we do request that you dispose of cigarette ends in a suitable ash tray and not throw cigarette ends on the ground.

Are pets allowed ?

The property does not cater for pets, the only exception to this rule is guide dogs for the blind but please consult with the Owners first as we are flexible.

What time can we arrive at Le Petit Moulin on our Wedding Day?

Exclusive hire of the Le Petit Moulin starts at 5pm on the day of your arrival. We can offer some flexibility should there be no departing guests on the day of your arrival.

Do you allow children at the Le Petit Moulin?

Yes, we welcome children to the Mill but ask that they are supervised at all times.

Do you have any high chairs we can use?

Yes, we have 2 high chairs which you can use and these are supplied at no extra cost.

We have small babies, do you have any cots we can use?

Yes, we have 2 cots and bedding which you can use and these are supplied at no extra cost.

What time do we need to leave Le Petit Moulin the next day?

Departure time is at 10.00 am however we ask that guests vacate all the rooms on the first floor by 9.00 am to allow our cleaners to commence work on this floor.

Do you provide children’s entertainment?

No we don’t but we do have an excellent local children’s entertainer listed on our supplier list and can provide nanny services.

Can my photographer come to the Mill before the wedding to look round?

Yes, as long as you make an appointment before hand.

Do you recommend having a break between the day and the evening?

We recommend that your day rolls into your evening without a big break.

Is the Mill lit from the outside at night time?

Yes, we have fabulous uplighters in the front of the Mill which illuminate the front of the building (see gallery) and there are Indonesian lights around the property and around the pool area.

Do you have a Bridal Suite?

Yes, we have two beautiful bridals suites and the other 7 bedrooms are beautifully and individually appointed so the bride and groom will normally choose one of the bridal suites and then allocate the other rooms to their guests accordingly.

Where does the bride normally get ready?

Most brides choose to get ready in the bridal suite of their choice as it has lots of natural light, plenty of mirrors, lots of space and its own bathroom.

Will I have one contact at Le Petit Moulin when planning my wedding or will I deal with a number of different people?

We have a dedicated wedding planner who will work closely with you right up to your big day. We (the owners) will be here on your wedding day to ensure that everything runs to plan.

Where is the nearest airport?

We are ideally situated being about 1h15 from Bordeaux International Airport, 1h from La Rochelle, 1h30 from Poitiers and 2h00 from Limoges. We can also help organize relevant transfers to and from Le Petit Moulin for everyone.

We would like to drive down where is the nearest Ferry?

The nearest ferry ports are Caen 5hrs and St Malo which is around 4hrs drive to the Mill.
We can offer a special discount to our Wedding couples of 15-20% off Brittany with telephone bookings as we advertise with them.
